MA apps

Postby Klaas Barends on Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:09 pm

What would you expect from a MA app on your iphone, ipad or android device?
Of course it would be easy to just release a app that looks nothing more like a dvd with some video.
But what extra's do these devices have to offer that would make them suitable to 'learn' a MA and hapkido in particular?? (yes, yes, I know nothing substitutes a real teacher. Lets not go there.)

Ideas?

btw. I love the 'tabata pro'-app ;-)

Hmm, wow that's a great idea not just for a post but really.
Can you create one?

I would expect, depending if it's linked to a Kwan/School etc. of course the syllabus in a table-styleish manner.
If it's independed for the world to use, ditch my previous expectation and
    - Dojang locations, Dojang near me. (GoogleMap link, seems simple).
    - Korean Terminology eg. Belt levels, Commands, Stances and Greetings
    - Etiquette guide as how to behave in a Dojang
    - Basic self defence examples (5sec. wrist- (fan...), shoulder-locks and armbars...)
    - and maybe a scenario based How-to-Response tool tip. Example: You find yourself alone at a bus station at night. What to do > Look for other people, make sure you are under a light and be seen, fake a phone call... you get the picture.

These are my quick five cents of what I would expect from a neat MA app.
I'm sure there are tons of more useful ideas to jam-pack that, but hey its a start
